12/4/2023 0 Comments Travelers rest high school soccerHe was an All-Skyline Conference performer in the high jump and pole vault in 19. dash, (¼ mile), the medley and mile relays, the high jump, and the pole vault. In Track and Field, he competed in the 880 yd. As a Devildog baseball player, he was a pitcher and played multiple positions in the field where he was an All-Skyline Conference performer in 1969. In 1969 he was an All-Skyline Conference performer and was a team captain. Playing basketball for the Devildogs, Tony was an Honorable Mention to the All-Greenville County Team in 1968. In football he earned three Varsity letters and was an All-Skyline Conference performer in 1968 playing both ways as an offensive and defensive lineman and was a team captain. Tony Anderson (Class of 1969) was a four-sport athlete earning multiple Varsity letters and awards in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Megan is a graduate of Presbyterian College and earned her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina. Also, in 2005 she was named the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Women’s Soccer. In 2005 she was named to the COSIDA Verizon Academic All-District team and to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team. She had five game winning goals in 2003, scored the most points in 2004 with 26 pts., and had the most assists in 2005. She was an NSCAA All-Region, SAC All-Conference, and SAC AllTournament performer while at Presbyterian. She is 4th All Time in total points scored with 101, 3rd All Time in career goals with 39 and assists with 23. She was a three-time MVP, while having the distinction of being the only three-time MVP in Presbyterian history. Megan attended Presbyterian College on soccer scholarship where she was a 4yr. Giles United Storm, (now CESA), that won eight consecutive State Championships and advanced to Regionals. She was captain and eight-year starter for the Premier Club Team, St. Her 2000 record is still ranked 2nd in the Palmetto Finest Record Book. In 2000, she set the state record for goals in a season with 59 and tied the state record for goals in a single game with 11. She was also named to the All-State team in 20. She was an All-Conference performer in 1999, 2000, and 2001. In women’s soccer she was a three (3) year starter and earned three (3) Varsity letters. She was a five (5) year starter, team captain and earned five (5) Varsity letters as a Devildog basketball player. Megan Smith Zapf (Class of 2002) was a multiple sport athlete earning Varsity letters and awards in women’s basketball and women’s soccer.
